My Background

I have a huge passion for sharing the adventure of learning how to play a musical instrument! I have an appreciation for anyone who desires to learn more about the world of music-- whether a fan of pop, R&B, country-western, or classical. I have a degree in Music Therapy with a concentration in piano from East Carolina University and currently coordinate an activity program for long-term care.  I also have six years experience in teaching piano privately. I also provide lessons in functional guitar skills. 

With a background in studying all types of music, I encourage my students to be honest with the kind of music he or she is interested in learning, as well as implement the studying of basic music theory. My students are also encouraged to participate in recitals or other opportunities to show off their talent.  Learning a musical instrument is a wonderful, rewarding experience that a person of any age can enjoy-- so let the fun begin!
